200 years of Braille – that’s something to celebrate! For us, those little dots are completely natural. But many people around us have no idea just how brilliant this writing system truly is – and all the possibilities it opens up. Now there’s a wonderful opportunity to change that: share this event announcement with friends, family, or colleagues and help spread the fascination of Braille!
Information Table: How Do Blind People Read?
How do blind people actually read? What is Braille and why is it called that? What does “black print” mean, and what is the DAISY format? We’ll answer these and many other exciting questions at the Bücherhalle Hamburg-Bergedorf (Holzhude 1, 21029 Hamburg).
Braille was invented 200 years ago – come and learn more about how blind and visually impaired people read, and test your knowledge at our quiz wall or spinning wheel.
At the same time, you’ll discover more about the services offered by the Norddeutsche Hörbücherei: People who are unable to read books in the usual way due to a disability can receive free and accessible audiobooks from us.

Diese und mehr spannende Fragen beantworten wir in der Bücherhalle Hamburg-Bergedorf (Holzhude 1, 21029 Hamburg). Vor 200 Jahren wurde die Blindenschrift erfunden – erfahren Sie mehr darüber, wie blinde und sehbehinderte Menschen lesen und testen Sie Ihr Wissen an Quiz-Wand oder Glücksrad. Gleichzeitig erfahren Sie etwas über das Angebot der Norddeutschen Hörbücherei: Menschen, die aufgrund einer Beeinträchtigung Bücher nicht im gewünschten Umfang lesen können, erhalten bei uns kostenlos und barrierefrei Hörbücher.
