On his website softcologne.de , Wolfram Flosdorf offers PC games for the Braille display for free. In a traditional game of Memory, there are lots of hidden cards on the table. You turn two of them over, and if they match – that is, if they form a pair – you can keep them, earn a point, and have another turn. On the Braille display, there are dots arranged side by side as hidden cards. Clicking on one turns the card over, revealing a letter. Then, clicking on another dot reveals a second letter. If both letters match – great! You’ve found a pair, the letters are replaced by dashes, and you get another turn. If the letters are different, you have to click somewhere else to turn them back into dots, and then it’s the next player’s turn. You can choose between 6, 16, and 26 letters, and 1 to 4 players can participate. The game has sound but also works solely on the display, making it suitable for deafblind individuals. The author recommends a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The ZIP file needs to be extracted, and then the file memory.exe can be started without installation. Download Memory
Beim richtigen Memory sind auf dem Tisch lauter verdeckte Karten. Man dreht zwei davon um und wenn auf beiden dasselbe ist – also ein Pärchen, kann man diese behalten, kriegt einen Punkt und ist noch mal dran.
Auf der Braille-Zeile sind nebeneinander als verdeckte Karten lauter Punkte. Klickt man einen an, dreht man quasi die Karte um und ein Buchstabe erscheint. Dann klickt man wieder einen Punkt an und ein zweiter Buchstabe erscheint. Sind beide Buchstaben gleich – super! Man hat ein Pärchen, die Buchstaben werden durch Striche ersetzt und man ist noch mal dran. Sind die Buchstaben verschieden, muss man irgendwo hin klicken, damit sie wieder durch Punkte ersetzt werden und der Nächste ist dran.
Man kann zwischen 6, 16 und 26 Buchstaben wählen und 1 bis 4 können mitspielen.
Das Spiel hat Sound, funktioniert aber auch rein auf der Zeile und eignet sich damit auch für Taubblinde. Der Autor empfiehlt eine Bildschirmauflösung von 1024 x 768 Pixel.
Die ZIP-Datei muss entpackt werden und dann kann ohne Installation gleich die Datei memory.exe gestartet werden.
