Theme Week: Braille Pictures

This week is going to be a very special one at Braille 200!
Today marks the start of our very first theme week, and we’re going all in right from the beginning!

Are you one of those people who used way too many sheets of paper for way too many Braille pictures during school?
We definitely were. We spent entire class periods—originally meant for homework—designing heavily armed space battleships instead.
For the cannons, we usually used the letter “X,” which led to “X-ing someone” becoming a common phrase among us for taking someone down or finishing them off.
At some point, someone even used it in an exam, but unfortunately, no extra points were awarded. Quite the opposite, actually.

But back to our theme week: Every day this week, we’ll present you with a piece of art created using Braille.
We’ll even provide a downloadable BRL file for each image so you can print or even recreate it yourself.

And if these artworks inspire you to get creative yourself, I have something for you:
The German Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted (DBSV) invites everyone interested to contribute to the creation of a Braille calendar for 2026.
